What You Need to Understand About Better Health And Wellness
Better health and wellness should always be our topmost priority if we want to enjoy life longer. We tend to rely on expensive medicines and synthetic drugs that are manufactured to ward off sickness. But because of the rising cost of medicine and side effects of drugs, people are slowly going back to using natural remedies which are less costly but can also be very effective.
Did you know that these natural cures can be made at home using natural ingredients like vegetables, herbs, and fruits? Here are some home remedies for common ailments that you can make at home.
1. Cough – One of the most effective natural remedies for cough is grape juice. Grapes are effective expectorants and can provide relief in just a few days. To make a grape juice expectorant, mix a cup of grape juice with a teaspoon of honey and orally take in every 3 to 4 hours until cough subsides.
If you have dry cough, almonds are recommended instead. Soak a teaspoonful of almond kernels in warm water and let it stay overnight. Grind them to form a paste and add butter and sugar. Take the paste twice a day.
Another natural remedy for cough is raw white onion. Chop a medium sized white onion or use a blender to extract the juice. Mix a teaspoon of honey to a teaspoon of onion juice for a better tasting cure. Onions are effective in expelling phlegm and they can be taken twice or thrice a day.
2. Sore throat – To eliminate the itching and burning sensation in the throat you may use the following natural remedies. The use of mango bark is proven to be an effective treatment for various throat disorders. Grind the bark and extract the juice of the bark. Mix in 125 ml of water with 10 ml of bark juice and you can use this as an effective gargle. If you want an aromatic cure for sore throat, use cinnamon. Boil a teaspoon of cinnamon powder with a pinch of pepper and honey. If you have cinnamon oil you can also mix it with honey to provide relief.
3. Diarrhea – An effective treatment for diarrhea is buttermilk. The acid content of buttermilk is an effective agent in removing bacteria in the lining of the intestines. Another effective cure for diarrhea is carrot soup. It provides the body’s water needs to fight off dehydration and gives sodium, potassium, calcium and magnesium to the body.
Cook half a kilo of peeled carrots in water until they become soft and mushy. Using a strainer, drain the pulp while adding salt to the mixture. Mint juice can also aid in the treatment of diarrhea. Mix a teaspoon of mint juice with a teaspoon of lime juice and honey. Take in orally every 8 hours for excellent results.
At present, there are hundreds of home remedies that can help cure common ailments and listed above are just examples. These home remedies are known for their excellent medicinal values. But if you’re in doubt, do not hesitate to check with your doctor for more information.
